The current banner shows Alnwick Castle, in Northumberland - a county in the far north east of England, bordering Scotland. This region is home to a number of Appleby lines - and our DNA project has confirmed genetic connections between several of these, which also match lines in Canada, USA and Ireland.
January 2014 - Added Applebys in Warwickshire Hearth Tax records and updated Master Wills Index - see Resource Index
March 2014 - added six new trees - Salvation Army Applebys, Adam Appleby of Easby, Blacksmiths of Ellingstring, William Philip Appleby, Appleby Quakers from Co Durham and Screwmaker Applebys from Birmingham.
March 2014 - updated Northern counties census spreadsheets with data from all recently added lines
March 2014 - new line added for Appleby miners of Durham
April 2014 - updated Northern BMD spreadsheets
May 2014 - Cowton Appleby line of Sheffield added
june 2014 - Line added for Jonathan Kidd Appleby of Gateshead and Egypt - a newly discovered branch of the John of Corbridge line
july 2014 - updates to the Cramlington Appleby line
aug 2014 - new DNA results added for a descendant of the Norwegian Appleby line (details to follow shortly)
aug 2014 - updates and family photos for the New Zealand branch of the line of Alexander Appelbe of Cork
aug 2014 - new line of APPLEBYs from Norway - this line arrived in the Canada in 1870 and was living in Iowa in the USA by 1872. Although not connected to the APPLEBYs from England, interestingly their use of the surname once they arrived in the USA is because they came from a farm called APALVIK (which translates as Appleby!)
aug 2014 - added tree for a line of Applebys that originated in Lincolnshire and moved to Rotherham - we are sure this line connects to that of William Barker Appleby, but need DNA tests from both lines to be certain.
feb 2015 - latest DNA results show a confirmed connection between the Applebys of Kirkcaldy and a new line we are working on which originates in Roscommon, Ireland (this page will be added shortly)

may 2015 - yDNA results spreadsheet updated with new results from a line from Lincolnshire and upgraded results for several lines which fall into cluster Northern Group ONE
may 2015 - BMD spreadsheets updated for Northern counties
june 2015 - migrated website to Version 6 of Sitemaker (HTML version) to enable viewing on mobile devices
june 2015 - tree added for Hezekiah Appleby
july 2015 - yDNA results spreadsheet updated with the latest results received from a line of Applebys from Oxfordshire - page to be added very soon for this line.
October 2015 - archive copy of this website successfully uploaded to the Guild of One-name Studies webserver ... this will be a static copy of the site to ensure the site remains available for posterity and I will update it at regular intervals
